Annual Arrangements

Under the Education Act, parents can express a preference for any school, but parents do not have the right to choose a school. West Sussex Education Authority does make every effort to meet parental preference where possible.

Eastbrook Primary Academy

Pupils are admitted in the September of the academic year in which they have their fifth birthday.

Parents and carers who are considering sending their children to our academy are encouraged to visit the school and see the academy in action. This will also give you the opportunity to discuss any personal requirements and concerns to help you make the right choice for your child. You can arrange to visit the academy by telephoning the office on 01273 874050.

Children of parents moving into the area during the course of the academic year are more than welcome to visit the academy in the first instance, but formal application for admission must be made via the Pupil Admissions Team at the above address.

Arrangements for starting school

Throughout the year, opportunities are provided for pre-school children in our locality to visit the academy, either to see annual festivities or to join in activities with the current reception classes.  This means that the school buildings will be familiar to many of our new entrants when they join us. As part of our transition arrangements, in the Summer term prior to being admitted, parents are invited to a meeting at the school.  This is designed to provide an insight into the workings of the academy; an opportunity to meet the staff and a chance to find out how we work together with parents to support children in their first year at our school.

The children are able to meet their teacher and spend several sessions in their new classroom before joining the academy. They are also invited to an outdoor play session, so they are very familiar with their surroundings. Every possible care is taken of our new entrants and their parents, so that they settle into the academy happily as soon as possible.

Under the Disability Discrimination Act, 1995, no child is refused admission on the grounds of disability, providing we can make appropriate provision.

Full details are available in our Admissions Policy.
