 ‘It’s Alive!   - Summer  2022

In the first half of the Summer term, we will be shrinking down to explore the tiny world of mini-beasts. We will spend time exploring the school grounds, looking at the different habitats within our local area.  In Science, we will be looking at the life cycle of plants and how they grow. We will be visiting ‘Wakehurst Place’ in Haywards Heath, where we will look at the life cycle of a sunflower and go on a ‘pollination trail’.

In the second half-term, we will be travelling back in time to discover what the world was like when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. We will look at different dinosaurs and find out facts about each one. The children will also go on an archaeological dig to find out about different fossils and create their own fossil out of salt dough.

In June we will visit Drusilla’s Zoo where we will take part in a mini beast workshop and be able to see some of our favourite dinosaurs up close!

From Zero to Hero - Spring Term 2022

In the Spring term we will learn about everything it takes to become a hero. We will explore ‘Real-life’ heroes and the work that they do in our community. We will also look at some historical figures that are known as heroes and think about why that is. We will look at the qualities that heroes need to have and enjoy a WOW day where we put these things into practise! As part of 11b411 we will try to achieve hero status by carrying out good deeds throughout the term.

Blow the House Down - Autumn Term 2021

In the autumn term we will be looking at castles and fairy tales. The children will learn about different traditional fairy tales and explore the different characters in each story. We have an exciting Fairy-tale day and each child can come to school dressed as their favourite character. The children will go on an exciting adventure, travelling back in time visiting Lewes Castle where they will learn about castle life.

Which fairy tale character is your favourite and why?

I'm very pleased with my child's progress in Year 1.  Their confidence has soared, and I'm very proud to say my child attends Eastbrook.  (Parent Questionnaire)
