PE and Sport Premium
What is the PE and Sport Premium?
In recent years, the Government has provided Primary Schools with an additional grant for improving the participation and attainment of pupils in PE and Sports. At Eastbrook Primary Academy we received £19,243 for the academic year 2022/2023.
Purpose of the funding
Schools must spend the sports funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they have the freedom to choose how they do this.
At Eastbrook we pride ourselves on promoting a wide range of sporting activities - through the taught curriculum, extracurricular activities and visits - which encourage an active lifestyle. We believe that the combination of providing an innovative, varied PE curriculum and a wide range of extracurricular opportunities will have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children. As a school, we have fantastic facilities for PE including large playing fields and an indoor pool. The school has also embraced 'Real PE' as a holistic approach to health and fitness.
Our school has a long history of sporting success in the local area and this is something we are keen to continue. We aim to provide opportunities for as many of our pupils as possible to represent the school in a range of sporting events. We are also keen to develop their leadership and coaching skills.
The sports premium is used effectively. Employing an extra specialist member of staff and developing links with a secondary school mean that a wide range of sports, including swimming, is available to all pupils. The school has been very successful in inter-school competitions and ensures that all pupils have the opportunity to participate in sporting activities.
