Welcome to EYFS
Welcome to our EYFS Page
We have included some information to help you support your child in their first year at our school. Please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff if you have any specific queries.
We'd also like to share some quotes from parents whose children have recently finished reception class:
We have been pleased with the ample opportunities provided to come in and celebrate/observe our child's work and progress. For example, book looks, bookworm, choir performances as well as nativity. Overall we are extremely happy with how our child has settled and been supported with this.
The teachers are amazing and a credit to the school, you should all be very proud. Well deserved Ofsted report, we can see why - thank you!
So much effort goes into creating the big progress books - I don't know how you do it! The detail is incredible and it will be so lovely to keep these as a memento at the end of the year. My daughter is very happy here, and I'm so pleased she got accepted to Eastbrook. This school is a credit to Southwick!
I cannot thank you enough for making my son's first experiences at school so special, he's always so positive about school life, forever grateful.
We are utterly thrilled with our daughter's progress this year. The joy and pride she has had this year with her reading and writing has been so lovely to watch.
Wow, what a busy, fun-filled year! Lovely to see new friendships forming and my daughter especially loves coming to school and talks about her day when she gets home.
Additionally, we are delighted to report that in our most recent EYFS Questionnaire, 100% of the parents who completed it, 'agreed' or 'strongly agreed' that their child was happy at school, that their child felt safe at school and that staff are friendly and approachable.
The Early Years curriculum ‘Development Matters’ is split into seven areas which are:
The Prime Areas
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
The Specific Areas
- Mathematics
- Literacy
- Understanding of the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
At Eastbrook, children experience a wide range of activities which naturally link the different areas of learning together to make them powerful and memorable.
We strive to develop independent and resilient learners, who are willing to explore, experiment and take risks. We provide a safe learning environment where children feel empowered to ask questions and seek advice.
Children enjoy learning and take a pride in their achievements. Basic skills are well-developed; in one lesson, inspectors saw pupils enthusiastically learning to count, enjoying counting backwards, then in tens, making good progress and enjoying the activity. (Ofsted)
