Languages at Eastbrook

“Learning a foreign language is liberation from insularity and provides an opening to other cultures.”

At Eastbrook, we aim to instil a life-long interest in foreign languages because we believe that language competence and intercultural understanding are an essential part of being a global citizen. Through our teaching of foreign languages, we encourage a positive attitude and appreciative approach towards other cultures. This global approach will broaden the children’s horizons and potential for future world-wide opportunities.

Our pupils understand that speaking and understanding a foreign language is a communication tool. It allows us to communicate with people with whom we wouldn’t otherwise be able to. This is why teachers put a strong emphasis on the pronunciation of the languages we teach.

Core Eastbrook Learning Value:  Aspiration

Aspiring to learn to speak a new language is fun and rewarding, as well as a useful skill.
